What to expect from your visit to our Waxing Buddy Johannesburg studio or from our Cape Town mobile waxing service.

I think the best way to explain what to expect from your visit to Waxing Buddy is to first tell you what not to expect.

We are not a spa and you are not going to be pampered by a female therapist

You are not going to listen to pan flute spa music.

And after your treatment the therapist is not going to sell you products you don’t need for a skin condition you don’t have.

You are not going to feel uncomfortable standing on all fours with your bum in the air in front of a female therapist to have crack hair removed.

You not going to sit in a waiting room and endure knowing looks from other clients.

And most important of all you are not visiting a sexual service providing business.

Cool now we have that out of the way, let’s look at what you can expect from your visit.

At our home studio in Johannesburg Van Riebeeck Park, Kempton Park you have safe off street parking.

When you arrive you will be asked to complete a client intake and consent document, this document will not be used to bombard you with spam emails or sms.

Please make sure to inform the therapist of any medical conditions or medications before receiving a wax or massage.

Your therapist will take you to the treatment room, you will be asked to remove the clothing off the area you will be waxing. The area that will be waxed will be treated with a pre wax lotion to strip the hair from any oil to ensure the wax adhere to the hair the first time.

After your waxing treatment is completed the therapist will apply after wax lotion, to sooth the skin and remove any stickiness.

Our Cape Town Mobile unit works in secific areas in and around Cape Town, please contact us to see if we are in your area. Our mobie unit requires safe parking , access to electricity point and space to set up the bed. The therapist will start your wax or triming session and explain through out what is happening and what your after care should be after the wax.

So what type of Waxing treatment are you looking for?

Arms, legs, back, chest, nose, ears, eyebrow, hands, feet, shoulders is straight forward the hair will be removed from these areas using a hot, strip or film wax.

Brazilian or Manzilian Wax - If you want to say goodbye to all of your hair – front (shaft, sack and pubic) and back (crack and bum) – this style will be your best bet and is very popular.

Brazilian waxing treatment will leave you totally soft and clean.

If you are receiving a Brazilian manzilian treatment you will be asked to help the therapist in tightening the skin or holding onto your shaft while he works on the pubic or sack area.

So do you now see why it is better to have a male therapist, imagine spreading your cheeks for a female therapist…awkward!!!

Bikini Wax - Common for first-timers who love freshening up, a classic bikini or speedo wax eradicates any hair attempting to peek out of the underwear line

(and may also include a touch up under the belly button or on the upper thighs).

The Landing Strip - Similar to a Brazilian, this style calls for the removal of all hair – except for one vertical line. Leaving it as thin or as thick as you wish, the remaining strip (trimmed to perfection)

Please remember to bring along loose clothing to wear after your treatment.

Some clients prefer to drink a pain pill 30 min before the waxing treatment.

Please inform your therapist if you are on any growth hormones or chronic medication

Here is some of the frequent questions that we have been asked, or you might feel ashamed to ask.

Q - What do I wear to my treatment?

A - Not too-tight things. You don't want to irritate your skin more than you have to. Wear something loose and cottony. The key is comfort. If you getting a Brazilian wax you might want to not wear underwear afterwards for at least 12 hours.

Q - Will it stay red for long after my waxing treatment?

A - No. Redness resulting from waxing goes within a couple of hours.

Q - How often do I have to wax?

A - Every 4-6 weeks. Your therapist needs at least 4- 5 mm of hair for the wax to adhere to. Some men go every 3 weeks for a back wax. Others every 2 months. The more regular the better.

Q - Is the sex better after waxing?

A - Hell YES! Its all skin bud! .... Go figure!

Q - Do I have to take my clothes off, when getting a waxing treatment?

A - It's advisable, unless you want wax all over your clothes. But you don't HAVE to if you are only doing your eyebrows... You can keep your T on if you only do your shaft and crack... really! If you don't care, drop it all...

Q - What if I get a woody during my waxing treatment?
A - So what? Our Therapists are professionals. They are not there to play with it but to remove the hair from it.

Seriously it is not problem it is quite normal. It's actually better if you do (get a woody) because the skin is tighter and it hurts less... plus the endorphins..... You get the picture? During the waxing procedure, therapists constantly pull the skin tight over the areas they are working in. This ensures the follicles are close to the skin making the procedure easier on you and for them.

Q – Suntan?

A - NEVER get waxed after you've been in the sun too long! Your therapist will throw you out! lol

Q – Spray on Tan or Self Tan Lotions?

A - Dont even try this!!!!! Waxing these areas will remove your tanned look and you will have a very uneven skin color afterwards

Q - Contagiousness?

A - NEVER perpetuate your problems on others. If you suspect you contracted something before your appointment, do the right thing and cancel!

Q - Skin conditions?

A - A therapist will never wax over moles, varicose veins or any funny-looking 'things' on your skin, its not that they don’t want to they doing this with your best interest in mind.

Q – Can straight/ Gay men make use of this service?

A – Yes we have no issue with straight or gay men, you are coming to us to have your hair removed or a massage. We are not a sexual service providing company and we will not entertain any sexual remarks. We will terminate the session.

Q – Why don’t you offer this service to woman?

A – We do offer this service for woman, But your wax or treatment will be done by a female therapist.

Q – Can I request a photo of the therapist that will be doing my treatment?

A - No !! You are not going on a date with him and you dont see me asking for pics of you to see if you are a hunk. Seriously we dont do this... our therapists are white, with two eyes, ears, arms and legs.

Q – Do you do male manicures and pedicures?

A – Yes Waxing Buddy Johannesburg does offer this service, but these treatmens are done by a female therapist.
